APRIL 2007 NEWSLETTER
Welcome to our second quarter newsletter of 2007. Things keep on moving at a pace around the IT world and also here at NYCO. So what have we been up to…………
NEMS/400 our hardware failure monitoring application is gaining popularity on a weekly basis, particularly in the USA. To date we have well over 100 customer’s machines running NEMS/400 in the USA alone!! Our new ‘Client’ version of the product is version 3.06, which includes a few ‘tweaks’ and increased user features.
New service offerings from NYCO
Having spent many weeks on a major new project for the company I am very proud to formally present our Hardware Monitoring Bureau Service which utilises our NEMS/400 product. What you ask, are NYCO now going into, making cabinets? Well I have been altering my desk, but that was due to me hitting the desk leg with my chair after a very pleasant lunch! No, we are now able to offer the market place a very cost effective and simple method of being able to remotely monitor for hardware problems using our own in house facilities. What better than to have the people who designed the product, looking after your systems 24x7, 365 days a year for you?
When NEMS/400 was originally developed, the product was designed for the customer to run it using their own ‘PMC - Problem Management Centre’ housed at their own service centre. We realised, however, that not everyone would want the expense of buying the ‘PMC’ and would also not have the available resources to run it themselves. So we thought why not offer the ability to gain the maximum benefit from NEMS/400, but without the initial outlay. We have a machine here at NYCO, dedicated to running NEMS/400. The ‘Client’ software is loaded on the System i, iSeries or AS/400 that is to be monitored in the normal way. The software then reports back to our London Service Centre and our ‘PMC’ sends out the relevant information back to the customer. This new approach from NYCO enables all businesses running System i, iSeries or AS/400 hardware the chance to have their hardware monitored at a very cost effective rate.
Additional functionality for MESSENGER/400
We have recently launched additional enhancements for MESSENGER/400. Combining the features of message alerts via mobile phones and pagers, we can now also send those alerts via e-mail. Following an extensive survey of our users, we were told that the ability to send messages to e-mail as well as the standard text alerts would be a welcome addition. We listened and we obliged. The e-mail enhancements can be ordered from our support desk. There is no charge for customers with a current maintenance agreement.
Finally a very big welcome to all our new customers who have joined us recently, we are pleased to have you on board. Have a great second quarter.
